Let's learn about Coton de Tulear coat care!

Hello everyone!
This is Coton Kennel BONCO, a specialized kennel for Coton de Tulear.
Today, we'll be discussing how to care for your Coton's beautiful coat.
As the name "Coton de Tulear" suggests, these dogs have a coat as soft and fluffy as cotton. Caring for this luxurious coat is a primary responsibility for any Coton owner.
Since our Cotons at Coton Kennel BONCO are bred from healthy parents with minimal genetic issues, coat care is essentially the only area that requires special attention.
While it may seem like a daunting task, caring for a Coton's coat is actually quite simple.
Unlike breeds that shed, Cotons grow their hair long. This means minimal shedding and less dander, making them hypoallergenic and virtually odorless.
However, their lack of natural oils makes their coat prone to matting. Daily brushing can prevent matting.
If left unattended, mats can become so severe that they may need to be cut out.
With regular brushing, you can keep your Coton's coat tangle-free and reduce the need for frequent baths and grooming to once every 3 months.
Isn't this Coton adorable after a good brushing?
Essential grooming tools include a slicker brush and a comb. An flea comb is also recommended.
